Do You Have What it Takes? Daigo “The Beast” Umehara Visits Kuwait for Pro Gamer Event!

Daigo " The Beast" Umehara visits Kuwait

Do you think you are the ultimate Street Fighter champion?

Are you man enough to be the best?

Good enough to beat the rest?

Well, for those living in the Arab sovereign nation of Kuwait, now’s your chance, as pro gamer Daigo “The Beast/Ume” Umehara is making his first trip to the country.

While appearances by Daigo and other prominent players from all over the globe are plentiful in the USA (especially Evolution Championship Series held in Las Vegas, NV), other countries like Kuwait are not so fortunate.

An event hosted by one of Kuwait’s top arcades, “White Tower”, has landed the ultimate pleasure of inviting one of Japan’s top Street Fighter players. At the event, people can test their mettle against the man who legendarily made a dramatic comeback against Justin Wong in the final round of Evolution Championship Series 2004. And if you didn’t know, it’s the match where Daigo “parried” every singe frame of Chun-Li’s multi-hit Super Art move “Hou Yoku Sen (鳳翼扇)”, beating Justin Wong with only a sliver of health left. That legendary moment was captured on tape by Seth Killian, who is now a community manager for Capcom (he was a pro Street Fighter player before Capcom hired him).

This is exciting news for Kuwaiti gamers as they too can have a chance at the legend of the east. The event, called the “Daigo Challenge,” consists of 1 game with 3 rounds of play. It’s good to note that these are just personal matches, and include no prize of any kind for beating Umehara (unless you consider surviving an encounter with “The Beast” as a prize). However, there will be an official tournament set a few days before the event, in which players can battle each other until only one is left standing, with the grand master of the tournament moving on to face Umehara, one-to-one. Details are scarce on the tournament and its prize winnings as of today, but this is sure to be an exciting event for pro Street Fighter gamers in the Middle East.
