The flood of information in a span of six days is astounding.
Not only did MLG finish it’s event in Columbus, Ohio (June 3-5, 2011), but the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) is about to wrap up in Los Angeles, California (June 7-9, 2011) with only one more day to go. From major announcements of new games, accessories, and consoles, 2011 is shaping up to be a year for all gamers, not just pro-gamers, but everyone who can pick up a controller and game.
Some news highlights:
- Microsoft announces tons of new games, accessories, and console updates. Gives details on already established titles.
- Sony also announced new games and finally gives more detailed info on the NGP, now renamed the PlayStation Vita (Vita means “Life”).
- Nintendo finally revealed the successor to the Wii, called WiiU, and promises to cater to the more hardcore gamer crowd rather than the casual affair that plagued the Wii.
Games were mostly the focal point, and there are so many that were announced or given updates, that to list them all would take multiple topics. Among the new announcements, several games got updates, such as Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Halo 4, Battlefield 2, Starcraft II: Heart Of Swarm, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Warrior, Soulcaliber V, Street Fighter X Tekken, and many more.
It has been a good first half for 2011, the rest of the year promises to bring gamers more excitement and fun.
