Rumor: Valve to reveal more details on DOTA 2?

Gamescom: The world’s largest trade fair and event highlight for interactive games and entertainment in Europe happens every year on August 21st, in Cologne, Germany. Considered Europe’s version of the Electronic Entertainment Expo/E3 (US) or the Tokyo Game Show/TGS (Japan), games and technology are showcased to clients, public, and gamers of all sizes (Regular or Pro Gamers) and it is at these kinds of events that usually gives gamers new details on upcoming games and tech.

The relevancy to the upcoming Gamescom is the fact that some eagle eyed readers have spotted the name “Valve Corporation” in the list of companies showcasing new games for this year. Specifically, a new “strategy” game that has yet been named. Given the fact that Valve, along with other big name publishers/developers, have revealed big name games at Gamescom before, it’s easy to connect the dots and see that the only “strategy” game Valve have any plans of revealing are none other than the fabled Defense Of The Ancients 2 (also known as DOTA 2).

Not to get anyone’s hopes up though, August is still a long way to go. Valve might be planning something else, but since they’ve finally wrapped up Portal 2 and made Team Fortress 2 free-to-play, they can finally give thier full attention to DOTA 2. Now if only they could give us details on Half Life 2: Episode 3/Half Life 3 or Counter Strike 2 (which Valve have said they will focus on once DOTA 2 is done).

[HERE] is the Gamescom exhibitor page that lists Valve and what they’re rumored to be showcasing.
