Koreans Dominate Starcaft 2 in MLG Anaheim 2011!

MLG Anaheim

As if it were Starcraft Brood War professional gaming all over again, the Korean pro-gamers somewhat owned Starcraft 2 in MLG Anaheim 2011 breezing through the pool play unscathed, losing only against their country mates. When all the battles were fought and the dust settled, they took home the top 6 money pots out of 8. Breakdown as follows:

1st – IM_Mvp winning $5,000 (Korea) (Terran)
2nd – SlayerS_MMA winning $3,000 (Korea) (Terran)
3rd – SlayerS_Boxer winning $2,000 (Korea) (Terran)
4th – SlayerS_Ganzi winning $1,400 (Korea) (Terran)
5th – MvP_DongRaeGu winning $1,000 (Korea) (Zerg)
6th – Fnatic_Rain winning $700 (Korea) (Terran)
7th – Liquid_Huk winning $500 (Canada) (Protoss)
8th – Dignitas_Naniwa winning $400 (Sweden) (Protoss)

Although there were some epic SC2 battles during the pool stage – one of which was Slayers_Boxer vs Rain in a 70 minute game – the upsets and seemingly unpredictable results on the open bracket made things even more interesting for the SC2 event.

On the open bracket, the Koreans proved to be human after all thanks to the efforts of ToD (France) who sent shockwaves of awe after beating Slayers_Alicia in a dominating 2-0 win and finishing him off 4-2 when they met again later on. This made Slayers_Alicia the first Korean pro-gamer to be eliminated from the tournament.

InControl (USA) added to the Koreans demise by taking out FXO.Choya in a hard fought and well deserve 2-1 victory. GosuWbc (USA) then took out the last of the Koreans to be defeated by winning 2-1 against FXOz.

More to come on MLG Anaheim but for now, check out this small clip featuring Boxer against Rain:
