Na’Vi Bullies Its Way to The International Dota 2 Championship Finals

Ukrainian Dota powerhouse Natus Vincere brushed off Scythe.SG in the Best of 3 Winner’s Bracket Finals to earn a slot at the Dota 2 Championship Finals, and with it a guaranteed $250,000 USD.

Na’Vi, led by their captain Ivan “ArtStyle” Antonov, needed only 2 games to dispatch of the boys from Singapore.  Their crowd pleasing hype- aggressive play style was too much for Scythe.SG, led by captain Lim Han Yong “Scythe.hyhy” Benedict, with Dota legend Daryl Koh “iceiceice” Pei Xiang playing as a stand-in.  Na’Vi has not dropped a single game in the ongoing Dota 2 tournament.

After being demolished in 25 minutes by Na’Vi in the first game, Scythe.SG ditched their turtle strategy and decided to take the fight to Na’Vi by picking an aggressive lineup.  Scythe.SG managed to keep game 2 interesting by controlling the entire map for much of the game.  Eventually though, ArtStyle’s Viper became too fat to take down, and the lack of late game physical damage basically doomed Scythe.SG.

Scythe.SG drops to the Loser’s Bracket and will face China’s Ehome, who prevailed over the Dutch team MYM.

In the Loser’s Bracket, Ehome pulled off a 2-0 win over MYM in their best of 3 semi-finals encounter to remain in contention for the $1,000,000 USD prize money.  Ehome sent MYM packing with $80,000 USD and advance to the Best of 3 Loser’s Bracket Finals against Scythe.SG.  “Ehome.X!!” once again showcased his world famous Storm Spirit and Tinker, eliminating the game, but overmatched MYM in two hard fought games.

The winner of the Loser’s Bracket Finals will face Na’Vi in the Dota 2 Championship finals in a Best of 5 series, the loser will take home $150,000 USD and third place at The International.  Na’Vi will enjoy a 1-0 advantage coming into the series by virtue of coming out of the Winner’s Bracket.  Second place will walk away with $250,000 USD and the winner will get the coveted $1,000,000 USD and the prestigious distinction of being the first ever champions of a Dota 2 tournament.

Dota 2 is set to be released by Valve early 2012.  For the mean time, players can participate in the scheduled Beta by signing up through their Steam accounts.
