Substantial as home entertainment investments, not everyone is at a financial capacity to get every gaming console there is, leaving different game console points as decision variables which define which is the most ideal to have.
Oftentimes, game console controllers are seen as key points which professional and hobbyist gamers look into, apart from the availability of game title options, game genre types and enhanced support for multi-player games and gaming sessions.
Here’s a quick comparative look at the Playstation 3’s Playstation Move and the Wii’s Wii Motion Plus, add-on wireless game controllers which bear a lot of similarities with each other, offered by two of the game console arena’s biggest industry players.
The Wii Motion Plus by Nintendo – introduced as an add-on accessory for Nintendo’s Wii, the Wii Motion Plus is geared for enhanced and accurate motion detection, incorporating single axis and dual axis turning fork gyroscope support for better rotational movement detection.
Developed by Nintendo in collaboration with AiLive, the Wii Motion Plus can be rigged to work simultaneously with other controllers present (like the Wii Classic Controller or Wii Nunchuk), and is essentially designed to work at its fullest with games designed for its use.
It can still function with other Wii game titles, but it offers no enhanced gameplay experience or add-on functionality over Classic Wii Controllers and Classic Wii games. It highlights games from different developers like Artoon, Atari, and Ubisoft, developers known to produce games designed for the Wii Motion Plus.
The Playstation Move by Sony – based on the Wii’s famed Classic Controller, the Playstation Move works with Playstation 3 units, maximizing the Playstation Eye’s camera in detecting the player’s (and controller’s) position, while interacting with the Playstation console through integrated sensors and wireless connections.
Using wireless Bluetooth technology, up to four Playstation Move controllers can be used at one time, and as an add-on accessory, its can be purchased in bundle terms, such as controller plus games packages, Playstation 3 unit plus controller packages, or Playstation Move controller with Dual Shock Controller packages.
With 36 third-party developers of games for the Playstation Move, the controller has won a number of positive reviews and awards, including “Most Immersive Game Controller” by Popular Science in 2010.
Given the upsides over the other, it can be said that the Playstation Move boasts more benefits over Wii’s Motion Plus. With more game title options, more options for controller/user expansion, and with smartly packaged purchase options, the Playstation Move wins a number of points over Nintendo’s Wii Motion Plus, save one: price.
The Playstation Move costs more than the Wii Motion Plus, and as individual game consoles, the Playstation 3 console itself costs more compared to the Wii.
It brings to point out one of the oldest arguments between the Playstation and Wii, that is, Wii’s are simple, less costly gaming consoles, while Playstations are more packed with features yet come with higher price tags.
Anyone with a Playstation Move or a Wii Motion Plus out there?
Drop by the comments section and have your say about your favored game console controller.

This article is useless. 1+ years later, how do the two technologies match up? The Wii is finished while the PS3 still has years to go. How do the games compare now? Anyone who knows the specs of the hardware and the price could write an article like this.
Thanks for dropping by Nick! Anyhow, I wish we could have done better on this blog for you however, I believe this has been compared not mainly because of the console’s age but because of the way they controllers are competing with each other. I could be wrong though.
