Poker

Poker is a card game in which players make and use pairs of cards. In a standard game, the lowest hand is a pair of aces, followed by a pair of twos, threes, or fours. In some variations, the players are allowed to add a joker to their deck. The cards are ranked from Ace to King, Queen to Jack, and are ranked from 10 to 2. The Ace can be high or low. Each card has a suit, and no suit is higher than another. Each poker hand contains five cards, but some games have Wild Cards, which can be any suit.

The number of players in a poker game can vary greatly, but 6 to eight players is considered the ideal number. The object of the game is to win the pot (the total amount of bets placed by all players in a given deal). This is done by having the best poker hand or making a bet that no other players call.

In poker, if two players tie, the odd chips are split among them. If two players have the same high hand, the odd chips go to the player with the highest hand by suit. Otherwise, the odd chips are split between the players equally.
